Darwin Jacobo Payes Canté
Birthday: November 26
I am deaf. It has not been easy to learn Spanish. I do my best to pronounce some words, but other people can’t always make out what I am saying. When I work hard to communicate but no one can understand me, I get so frustrated! I scream from my isolation and despair.
My mother is the one who works to support our family because my father abandoned us. She works selling Pepsi products at stadium events such as concerts, ball games, etc. But when there are no events, she collects plastic bottles, copper, and cans for recycling.
I have always had a close relationship with Engadi Ministries. My mother is thankful because our family has always received help from Engadi, including the School Supplies Program that I am a part of.
I don’t know what I want to do or what I will be able to do when I get older. I do love sports. In fact, I am proud that I stand out so much that I have received two medals for athletics.
