Josseline Hernández

I am the mother of two children.  I gave birth to my first son when I was 16 years old.  I usually work with a public transport service in Zone 18, but for now my partner, is the one who is responsible for providing for the whole family.  We have been together for three years now.

When my first child was born I started working selling clothes.  It took real initiative to start studying on my own because my ex-husband objected.  I had a lot of barriers and people telling me I couldn’t do it, but that only made me try harder.  I began to teach myself.  The work paid off when I earned a high school diploma with honors.  It was not easy.  There were moments of loneliness because I did not receive moral or financial support from my ex-husband or my family.  I finally divorced in 2015.

My children are my greatest motivation and inspiration.  I want to make them proud of me, and I hope to give them more than I had when I was their age.

When I was younger, my dream was to be Certified Public Accountant and work in an office, but my negative experiences going through my divorce changed my mind.  Now I would like to be a lawyer.  I believe that God desires justice for all the other women who are going through crisis like I did.  I would like to provide them with legal assistance.  I look back and I can see how I have grown in my knowledge, my patience, and my analytical skills.  I give God all the glory for the opportunity I have had to continue my studies.
