I live with my mother and 4 siblings, including my twin sister, Karen. My father died when I was 10 years old. My older brother Anthony is unemployed, and my mother is the one who works informally to provide for our family. I remember when I was in primary school, my mother tried hard to send us food for school and to give us at least 2 quetzales a day (approximately 25 cents). Even that was hard to come by. My mother did not have a regular job, and on some occasions my sister and I went out with her to sell ice cream, earrings, etc.
The help Engadi Ministries has given me has motivated me to help people to study and become professionals. For two years I did not have the necessary resources to study. I know what it’s like to be unable to pay for school, so now I highly value the opportunity that I have.
I would like to be a doctor. I have grown up seeing many homeless children without access to food or medical care. I want to change that, and that dream has motivated me to study medicine. I want to graduate and be able to help my family financially.
